What Wideman SHOULD HAVE SAID…

dennis wideman

Dennis Wideman cross-checked the referee, knocked him ass over teakettle and then said:

“I took a pretty good hit down in the corner and had some pretty good pain in my shoulder and neck,” Wideman said. “I was just trying to get off the ice and kind of keeled over. At the last second, I looked up and saw [Henderson] and couldn’t avoid it. I went up to Donnie and apologized to him on the ice.

“I didn’t see him. I didn’t know where to go and how to get out of the way. I’ve been around for a few years, and I think I’ve treated every official with the utmost respect, and I would never intentionally try to hit a linesman or a ref. It was completely unintentional, and I already apologized to him.”

What he should have said:

“I’m an idiot, I was angry,  that was stupid, I deserve to be suspended for ___ games”

I think Sportsmanship should be an integral part of any competition.  When athletes lose sight of that I have a problem with them.  It’s disrespectful to the game!

Here’s a link to the game video.  It doesn’t look very accidental to me (and I like Calgary).

Born on Jan 29, 1943.  Died on Nov 23, 2014. We shared the same birth day, but not the same year!  A big tough Irishmen, born in Hamilton, Ont who loved hockey, not afraid to voice his opinions and ruffle some feathers.  He was an interesting character for sure!!

Rest in Peace Mr. Quinn!

Flip, Flip, Flip!

Here’s what happens when there’s NO HOCKEY on TV:

mmmm — I wonder what I should do with all my spare time?

Maybe I could watch something else on TV!  Flip, flip, flip..

I’ve watched some interesting, informative documentaries.  Science Stuff,  Geography, Animals, Mammals, Concerts, PBS, Technology, People doing good things.. Well that was alright, (I guess)..

Maybe I could catch up on my reading! Flip, flip, flip..

I’ve read some interesting, informative books.  A book by John Edwards “Crossing Over”, a Wilbur Smith Novel (gotta love Wilbur!), “The Spirit Molecule” – very interesting but didn’t understand a lot of the biology and LSD references.. ( I guess that’s a good thing).. The LSD part I mean 🙂    Today I pick up a small book called “Cliches & Platitudes”.. a book of one liners, etc.

I see the book laying on the bookshelf! Flip, flip, flip..

The first thing that catches my attention?

It says:  NEVER CHOOSE YOUR WOMEN OR YOUR LINEN BY CANDLELIGHT!

  Who needs hockey anyway??
