Too much TV?

May 21 – 2012

It’s a rainy May Long Weekend Monday and having the day off started out with a bit of a sleep-in, a few cups of coffee and then turned on “daytime” TV to see what there was to watch..

I started out with a show that was titled “Easy Recipes”  That might be interesting and give me some ideas for supper tonight or lunches this week, right?

the show continues to show the cook sifting the flour, and then resifting, and then alternately blending the flour into the liquid mixture into the food processor.  Blend for a few seconds, pour in more flour, blend for a few seconds, pour in more flour, take your spatula thingy and scrape any dry stuff away from the sides, blend again.  Then when it’s all mixed, you pour your batter into the pan that’s been oiled and floured and WAIT, that’s not good enough, we now have to add 2 layers of parchment paper to the pan before pouring our batter in.

I say to myself: “Self, I thought the name of this show was EASY RECIPES”

and I search the TV Guide, and find Top Chef Canada.  That might be interesting and give me some ideas for supper tonight or lunches this week, right?

I begin watching; everyone’s panicking, stressing and things are getting tense.  The judges say:  “and the winner of this stage is…”

AND A COMMERCIAL comes on!!

Now, I’m pretty sure that any Producer / Advertising agency would know, or SHOULD KNOW by now, that the first thing anybody watching the show is going to do is

If we have perfect timing, and don’t get too distracted watching some other channel then we might make it back to watch their show and maybe the end of one of their commercials.

The only commercial on TV right now that I will watch is the Telus Auto Correct commercial.

“I just texted my boss and told him I’m in bed with a very nasty Clown!  I meant Cold!!”

Makes me laugh every time.  And I learned that you can turn auto correct off by using the settings menu on your IPhone.

So now I’m back to thinking TV isn’t ALL bad!!
